老年學的護理使命
- 我們相信 — 老化過程是人生中的自然生理現象，在保持尊嚴和健康的生命同時，亦需要有意義的生活質素。
- 老年學的護理的態度是設身處地，面對長者時，以誠意和專業技能瞭解他們的心理、生理及社會各方面的感受和需要，從而提供適切而被長者及其照顧者接受的護理方案。 過程中在注重科技和新技能的同時，亦注重個人和人性化的精神，目的是讓長者渡過尊嚴及適意的晚年
學院歷史
香港老年學護理專科學院
背景
『香港老年學護理專科學院』的前身是「香港老年學護士協會」，該協會於1997年初組成。協會初期是由一群志同道合， 熱衷長者服務的護士同業自發組織而成。致力為加強護理同業(包括醫院、院舍及安老服務機構)對長者護理的知識和技巧， 每年均舉辦不同的專題講座及研討會，希望透過彼此分享服務經驗，有效地提升護理服務的質素，使長者能得到更優質的照顧。
協會於2010年1月命名為「香港老年學護理專科學院」。本學院除了秉持協會一貫宗旨外，並致力持續提升護理專業的素質。 本學院於2006年開始被納為 “CNE Provider”，近年更正積極與『香港護理專科學院』協作籌備專科院士考核課程及發展計劃。

- 提升老年護理的學術及專業水平
- 促進從事老年護理的護士的相互了解、達致有效溝通及提升福址
- 確認及持續發展本地老年學專科護士身份
- 啟動及發展老年護理持續教育和相關的護理科研活動
中國事務
與國內各省護士培訓學校合作
本學院自2010年開始一直與國內各省護士培訓學校合作，為提高老年學護理專科訓練專科護士，已經培訓超過五百多位老年學護理專科護士。
本學院會繼續提供支援國內同業為國內長者提供至臻至善的高質素的護理服務。

親愛的同事們：
很榮幸能擔任新任主席。我衷心感謝各位對老人安全、高品質照護的奉獻、關懷與承諾。我們將攜手並進，繼續提升我們的實踐水平，互相支持，並提高患者和社區應享有的服務標準。
未來幾年，我們的共同目標是透過學習、創新和實證改進，支持老年學的發展，同時確保為長者提供全面、有尊嚴且以長者為中心的照護。
作為學院，我們的工作將聚焦在三個關鍵方向：
- 為會員提供高品質的老年學教育和專業發展。
- 透過實證實踐、創新和臨床標準，改善老年護理。
- 加強合作與外展工作，以支持長者、家庭和更廣泛的社區。

致親愛的會員：
全球人口正邁向老齡化，香港長者人口持續增長。根據2022 年香港政府統計處公佈的香港人口趨勢：65 歲及以上人士的比例從 1991 年的 8.9% 持後上升至2021 年的 20.5%。長者曾對香港社會貢獻良多。保持他們身心健康安享人生下半場是我們護士的責任。
本人擔任香港老年學會護理專科學院主席一職，感到十分榮幸，多謝各位委員的支持，更希望各位委員把累積多年的專科經驗及智慧薪火相傳，以作提升長者醫療服務水平，提高長者健康知識及生活質素，令長者享受多姿多彩的黃金歲月。

Dear HKCGN members,
I would like to provide a brief report on some of the recent developments and initiatives taken by our College. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have not been able to hold an on-site AGM in the past three years. I am so glad that we have organized a very successful HKCGN Annual Symposium cum AGM physically on 3 Jun 2023.
First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to all our members who have been actively involved in supporting our elderly clients during these difficult times. Your dedication and commitment to the elderly community have been invaluable, and we appreciate all that you have done.
In the past year, we have been able to provide four training sessions via Zoom, and I am happy to report that we had over 1,300 attendances. This has been a great way to continue providing education and training to our members, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Looking ahead, we plan to continue providing training via Zoom in 2023. We believe that this virtual format has proven to be successful and has allowed us to reach a wider audience. We are committed to making our training accessible to as many members as possible, regardless of their location.
In addition to our local efforts, we are also committed to supporting gerontology nursing training in China. We believe that our expertise and knowledge can be of great benefit to the wider community. We are dedicated to continuing these efforts to promote knowledge exchange and excellence in the field of gerontology nursing.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for the devotion and wonderful support of our Council Members. I would also like to make a passionate appeal to our members esp. those Fellows to consider becoming our co-opted members. Your input and expertise are invaluable to us, and we would be honoured to have you on board.

My Dear College Fellow Members,
Wishing you all a very healthy and successful year in 2019! Time passes so quickly and I would like to take this opportunity to update you some of our College’s achievements in 2018.
In meeting with the ever-challenging health care system and the complex community environment, we have invited Dr James LUK, President of the Hong Kong Geriatrics Society, as our Keynote Speaker and shared his foresight with us on "Building a Sustainable Quality Gerontological Healthcare" at our 2018 Annual Scientific Meeting on May 26th 2018. This year our Scientific Meeting has received an overwhelming response of approaching 80 participants. In the event, our Fellows and members have also shared their successful collaboration projects and excellent updates of their current nursing practice innovations.
During 2018, our College has successfully launched the CNE Update Course in Elderly Abuse Issues, Counselling & Communication with elders, Medication Safety, Wound Care Management, Common Mental Health Problems in Geriatric Patients, Nursing management of skin & related problems as a kind of joint-handed programs with the HK Association of Gerontology. There are more than 40 participants enrolled in each program.
We had also collaborated with the "廣東省護士協會" to organize their Fifth Gerontology Nurse Specialist Certificate Training Course for the nursing colleagues of Guangdong province in 2018. Such Course was successfully held with more than 80 nurse specialist graduates for elderly care.
Four Journal Club Sharing have also been conducted in 2018 with very overwhelmed respond. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Professor Claudia LAI, Professor Helen CHAN, Ms Sabrina HO and Ms Catherine WONG as our Journal Club Sharing would not be so successful without their dedicated support.
May I also like to take this opportunity to send my deepest gratitude and thank all our devoted Council Members for their wholehearted support to the College and brilliant, outstanding works in past years.
Since the “Voluntarily Specialist Enrolment/ Registration Scheme” will probably be piloted by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong in 2019, I would invite all College members to pay special attention to the development of such issue in future.
